Planning a Joshua Tree trip and looking for the best Airbnbs in Joshua Tree? Good call. Skip the hotel. The desert is made for Joshua Tree vacation rentals: hot tubs under absurd starry skies, pools with boulder views, and houses that look like they were designed by someone with excellent taste and no budget constraints.
We’ve spent years combing through Joshua Tree’s rental scene, and these are the ten Airbnbs we’d actually book ourselves. Every one of them is live and well-reviewed as of 2026.
1. The Joshua Tree Prescott House

The Prescott House has been the gold standard of Joshua Tree Airbnbs for years, and it has only gotten more decorated since. It’s now sitting at 4.99 stars across 700+ reviews and got featured in Condé Nast’s roundup of the best Airbnbs near 57 US national parks. That’s not a typo. Fifty-seven parks, and this place made the cut.
The setup: a private solar-heated pool (no extra charge, which is rarer than you’d think out here), a hot tub, a heated outdoor shower, and a fully fenced yard with what the listing accurately calls “tons of Joshua Trees.” Inside it’s all king beds, a stocked kitchen, and a whole-house speaker system. WiFi is 200mb down, so yes, you can “work remotely” from the pool. We’ve all done it.
2. Serenity Escape In Joshua Tree

Serenity Escape is the minimalist desert dream: clean lines, a saltwater pool, and 1,300+ reviews averaging 4.97 stars. It’s been featured on Airbnb’s own Instagram multiple times, which tells you the aesthetic is doing a lot of heavy lifting (deservedly).
The house was built from the ground up in 2015 as a modern, open-concept space with a chef’s dream kitchen, indoor/outdoor sound system, and extreme privacy on a fully fenced lot. Two master bedrooms, each with its own en-suite. Follow them at @SerenityEscapeJT if you want to fall down a rabbit hole of desert house envy.
“This was just what we needed,” a recent guest review.
The hosts (Oded and Rachel) have been at this a long time, and it shows.
3. The Glasshouse

This is the architecture pick, and it earns the slot. The Glasshouse sits on 6+ acres of boulders wrapped in window walls (most of them slide open, so the whole house goes indoor-outdoor), designed by Andrew for Boulder2Sky with Waterworks fixtures, Ann Sacks tile, and solar panels. It’s been featured in Dwell, Home Magazine, ArchDaily, and Dezeen, the kind of press most Airbnbs would kill for.
The numbers: 4.99 stars across ~300 reviews, 3 bedrooms, 4 beds, 3 private baths. Saltwater pool and spa, outdoor shower, fire pit, chef-grade Wolf grill, and three king-sized sunbeds by the pool. It’s 15 minutes from the park’s west entrance and 10 minutes from Pioneertown, gated with electronic entry, and you drive in on decomposed granite desert roads (a vehicle isn’t optional).
“Such a beautiful property. Loved the art throughout the house. Pool and jacuzzi situation was out of this world. Kitchen fully stocked to make yummy food! Can’t wait to be back. Thank you for the memories!”
4. Desert Wild

Desert Wild is the rare listing that gets better with age. It’s now at a perfect 5.0 stars across 546 reviews, it’s a Top Guest Favorite, and Condé Nast named it one of their top 10 Airbnbs in Joshua Tree. The design press (Dwell, Sunset) has featured it too.
Owners Lou and Nat built this place from the ground up in “Finca style”: plaster kitchen worktops, plaster floors and bathrooms throughout, a Georgia O’Keeffe-inspired adobe fireplace, and a cactus garden you can gaze at from the ensuite bath. Outside: in-ground pool, shaded cabana, vintage Malm wood-burning fireplace for cooler months, and a hot tub that’s “magical at night all-year long” (their words, and the reviews agree).
It’s in a safe, quiet residential neighborhood in South Joshua Tree, 10 minutes from the park’s west entrance and 5 minutes from downtown. This is the one I’d book for a design-obsessed friend I actually like. One of the best Airbnbs in Joshua Tree, full stop.
5. Joshua Tree Green Haus with Hot Tub

The Green Haus sits on a mesa in Sun Mesa Heights with a 180-degree view stretching from Joshua Tree National Park to Mt. San Jacinto, and it’s been collecting press the way some houses collect dust: Vogue Travel’s “Inspiring Desert Retreats,” Dwell’s “Ultimate Joshua Tree Airbnbs,” and Architectural Digest’s “7 Best Airbnbs in Palm Springs.”
It’s a 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath retreat sleeping up to 6, with an outdoor cedar hot tub made for stargazing, a two-level terrace with BBQ and chimenea, and hiking straight from the front door up Bartlett Mountain. Pet-friendly too ($25 per pet), which instantly puts it ahead of half this list for dog people. 4.97 stars, ~900 reviews, and hosts Daniela and Richard are still at it.
6. Joshua Tree Desert Retreat

Traveling with a crowd? The Desert Retreat sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, and it’s currently wearing Airbnb’s “Top 5% of homes” badge. It’s run by Morgan Estates (host Jimmy gets name-checked in reviews as genuinely responsive), and it’s also a 10/10 “Loved by Guests” on Vrbo, so this isn’t an Airbnb-only fluke.
The big draws: a game room with pool table, ping pong, and foosball; a hot tub with open desert views that works as well at sunrise as it does at 10pm; and a big hexagon hammock made for mid-afternoon naps. About 5 minutes from the park’s west entrance and 3 minutes from Joshua Tree Village: few places to stay near Joshua Tree National Park make group trips this easy.
7. Prism

Prism is the splurge pick: a modern house dropped on top of a hill, completely surrounded by boulders. Managed by The Cohost Company, it’s sitting at 4.92 stars across ~228 reviews with a Luxe badge.
What you get: an above-ground container pool open year-round, a hot tub with its own deck, a fire pit tucked into the boulders, and huge sliding glass doors that erase the line between inside and out. Two bedrooms (both kings), 2.5 baths, a foldable queen in the living room, and a master bedroom with an indoor-outdoor shower. Six guests max.
Two things to know before you book: pool heating is an extra $200/day (standard desert upsell, but budget for it), and it’s dogs-only on the pet front (fee applies, two max, and the property isn’t fully fenced). If you’re bringing a dog that likes to roam, plan accordingly.
8. Starfire2: JT Experience Like No Other

The original Starfire listing rode off into the sunset, but the house itself is back under a new listing: Starfire2. Same 1950s hilltop home, same cowboy pool, same hot tub, same gloriously off-grid energy at the end of a 2.5-mile dirt road. It’s already rebuilt to 4.98 stars and ~330 reviews with a Top Guest Favorite badge, which is about as strong a comeback as a vacation rental can make.
Fair warning, and I mean this as a compliment: this place is remote. The dirt road, the off-grid setup, the sheer quiet: that’s the entire point. If your idea of a good time is room service, keep scrolling. If it’s floating in a cowboy pool watching the sky do things, welcome home.
9. Casita by The Joshua House

The Joshua Tree House crew (Sarah and Rich Combs’ operation) basically invented the modern desert-Airbnb aesthetic, and the Casita is their smaller, more accessible entry point. It’s now listed as “Casita by The JTH | Hot Tub | Hiking | Stars,” which is admirably direct about what’s on offer.
Expect the signature JTH look, curated, warm, extremely photographable, plus a hot tub, hiking right from the property, and some of the darkest skies in the area. It’s one of six bookable properties on their own booking site, so availability is sometimes better direct.
10. The Outlook

The Outlook is the couples pick: a 1-bedroom cabin built around its rooftop deck, with a hot tub, fire pit, hammocks, and, in a fun bit of desert pragmatism, a functioning outhouse plus a detached container room for extra space. Host Mark is a Superhost with 8 years and 700+ reviews under his belt.
4.87 stars from 439 reviews, Guest Favorite, Top 5% badge. The listing got a slight rename (“The Outlook /Modern, Hot Tub,”) but it’s the same beloved little cabin. Mini-split AC, Bluetooth speakers, propane BBQ. Everything you need, nothing you don’t, and a rooftop made for sunset.
Know before you go
If you’re still deciding where to stay in Joshua Tree, spring and fall weekends book out first.
Park entrance: Joshua Tree National Park is $30 per private vehicle, good for 7 days. Entrance stations are card only, so don’t roll up with a pocket full of cash expecting change.
The Integratron: Still open and still weird in the best way. Public sound baths run Wednesday through Saturday at $62.89 per person, and they sell out. Book weeks ahead, sometimes months. It’s closed for restoration July 5 through September 8, 2026, and every January. The grounds and gift shop are open without a reservation if you just want to gawk at the all-wood dome.
When to visit: Spring (March–May) and fall (October–November) are the sweet spots. Summer is brutally hot (this is the actual desert, not the Instagram version), and winter nights get properly cold, which is exactly when a hot tub earns its keep.
This concludes our list of the best Airbnbs in Joshua Tree: ten Joshua Tree house rentals we’d genuinely book ourselves, from the hilltop views of the Prescott House to the boulder-surrounded splurge of Prism. Pick the one that matches your trip, book early for spring and fall weekends, and leave the desert cleaner than you found it.
