Start your morning with a stroll on the Campuhan Ridge Walk. This trail near Ubud center offers beautiful views of the lush greenery and is perfect for some fresh air and exercise. You can admire at the beautiful rice terraces and palm trees in the distance, a perfect introudction to the natural beauty of bali.

Head over to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary next. It’s home to a large population of long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis), but also a place of cultural and spiritual significance. While admiring the naughty monkeys, check out the ancient temples. Just keep a close watch on your belongings.

Make a stop at Ubud Art Market or Pasar Seni Ubud. It is known as one of the best places to buy souvenirs in Bali, with its diverse range of textiles, jewelry, and handmade crafts. Featuring local artisans, the market offers a cultural experience where visitors can haggle for unique items while supporting the local economy.

Afterwards, make your way to the Ubud Palace. It’s a great place to admire Balinese architecture and learn about the local culture. Stick around in the evening to catch a traditional fire dance performance (Kecak Dance), which is both colorful and captivating. Make sure you get your tickets in advance and arrive early to get good seats!

Kick off the day by visiting Pura Tirta Empul, a famous water temple known for its holy spring water. It’s one of the places where tourists can participate in the ritual purification. After cleansing yourself, walk around the complex and admire the temple grounds.

Next head to the Tegalalang Rice Terrace, one of the most iconic attractions in Bali. Not only is it pretty, but it showcases the traditional Subak irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage achievement. If you want to go on a swing, this is also a great place to do so and get some cool photos.

In the late afternoon, drive to Tibumana Waterfall. It’s one of Ubud’s hidden gems and offers refreshing swimming opportunities. The falls are surrounded by lush jungle, making it a perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature.

Mt-Batur-Sunrise-Trekking
Mt. Batur Sunrise Trekking

Rise early for a sunrise hike up Mount Batur, one of the most popular adventurous activities in Bali. The hike takes you to the top of an active volcano at approximately 1,717 meters (5,633 feet) above sea level and offers breathtaking views. The hike is challenging, but getting to the summit is worth it.

Once you’re back and rested, get your taste buds alive with a Balinese cooking class. Balinese cuisine is some of the richest cuisines in the world, and there is not better way to learn about it than a cooking class in Ubud. It is the perfect place to explore the flavors and ingredients that define Balinese food!

If you still have energy, you can check out the nightlife in Ubud. While the party scene isn’t as lively as Canggu, there are still a few places that are worth checking out. Our favorite is Blue Door and L.O.L Bar & Restaurant. The former is a bar with a hidden nightclub in the rear and the latter is a live music bar that is always busy!

On your final day, treat yourself to a day of relaxation. Start with a visit to a renowned spa in Ubud. Many spas offer traditional Balinese massages and flower baths, ensuring you leave completely pampered.

Consider booking a session for yoga or meditation at a local retreat. Ubud is known for its wellness culture, and these activities will help you feel rejuvenated.

You can also opt to go to Creyta Ubud, the most popular day club in Ubud. It has several pools that overlook stunning rice plantations. Honestly, I can’t think of a better place to relax than Creyta!

End your day with a leisurely meal at one of Ubud’s many incredible cafes or restaurants. My favorite is Nusantara by Locavore!

Getting To Ubud

Getting to Ubud is pretty straightforward. The usual way to arrive in Ubud is by flying into Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali.

Then getting to Ubud from Denpasar Airport is very easy:

  • Taxi: The most convenient option is to grab a taxi, which takes about 1.5 hours.
  • Shuttle Service: We recommend booking on Klook, which is usually the cheapest option.
  • Ride-Sharing Apps: Apps like Grab or Gojek can also be used to get to Ubud.

Another option is to rent a car or a motorbike if you feel adventurous. Renting a car with a driver is common and offers more flexibility to explore.

Pro Tip: If this is your first time in Bali, make sure you add an additional 25% to your travel time. Traffic in Bali is one of the worst in the world!

Getting Around Ubud

Getting around Ubud in a scooter is the most convenient way

Exploring Ubud is part of the fun, and there are several ways to get around.

Walking is a great option if you’re staying in Ubud Center. The town is compact, and many attractions are within a short walk. However, be extra careful, because the sidewalk is narrow and scooters often drive on it.

For longer distances, you can rent a scooter. It’s affordable and gives you the freedom to explore on your own schedule. Just be sure to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules.

If you’re not comfortable on a scooter, consider using ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab. These services are convenient, and you can choose between car or motorbike rides.

However, if you are going somewhere really far from the center, you might have a hard time finding a ride to get back.

Hiring a private driver is another excellent option, especially for day trips to places like the Tegalalang Rice Terraces. Many drivers offer competitive day rates and can also provide insights into local culture and attractions.

When Is The Best Time To Visit Ubud?

canggu-or-ubud-is prettier Terraces

The best time to visit Ubud is during the dry season, which typically runs from April to October. This period offers sunny weather, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the region’s stunning rice terraces and cultural sites.

However, July and August are peak tourist months, attracting many visitors. This often leads to crowded attractions and higher accommodation prices.

If crowds are what you are worried abourt (which should be), then early September to October might be a better time to visit. This period usually sees a drop in tourist numbers, allowing for a more relaxed atmosphere while still enjoying good weather.
